It’s Census Day: Make Your Voice Count

April 1 is Census Day and each of us have a crucial responsibility to make ourselves count!

This year, the Emerging Leaders Initiative of Utah encourages you to #LeadbyCaring by taking a few minutes by mail, phone or online to complete the Census by visiting 2020census.gov.

We've even created a #LeadbyCaring social media toolkit for you to help encourage your friends to take the Census. You can download graphics for your Instagram story, Twitter by clicking here.

The results of the 2020 Census will impact the lives of Utahns for the next decade. Every 10 years, the Census determines how many representatives we get in the House of Representatives and how billions of dollars in federal funding will be allocated.

By filling out the Census, you help Utah gain funding for important things in our communities like roads, healthcare and schools. Conversely, not filling out the Census can result in funding or representation losses.

This year, social distancing and the ongoing coronavirus pandemic are also having an impact on the 2020 Census.

Although this year the Census is more assessable than ever since it’s offered online, the Census Bureau traditionally relies on thousands of people to go knock on doors and interact with the public to collect results.

Field operations, or door-to-door Census collection, are currently suspended. As a result, it is more important than ever that you take the initiative to take the census online or by mail or phone.

Help encourage others to complete the Census by sharing on social media! Use the hashtag #LeadbyCaring and encourage your friends on social media to complete the Census by visiting 2020census.gov.
